Youth (under 18)

If you were born 2004 or later, but you are under 18 - the Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) must be opened by a parent/legal guardian. If you are in CFS care, the RESP can be opened by the agency. More info can be found on the information page for youth in care.

Youth (over 18)

If you are 18+ and you were born 2004 or later, the Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) can be opened by you. You have until the day before your 21st birthday to apply for the CLB. To open the RESP you will need:
- Valid Photo ID 
- Social Insurance Number

If you already have both those documents, you can book an appointment with any financial institution and ask them to apply for the CLB on your behalf.
